Do not walk through time without leaving evidence of your passage.........
How it all started................
Whilst on our Scottish honeymoon in 1972, my husband Stuart
and I stopped in to look at Edinburgh Castle. What began as a gentle stroll around the Castle Armoury, led to an all-consuming passion that only another genealogist can understand. (My husband certainly doesn't!). There in the Armoury in a glass case, was a sword engraved with the words:

Prosser - Sword Cutler to King George III

I decided to find out more. I wrote to armouries and museums all around the country. I asked my new in-laws what they knew, and whilst they could tell me nothing about the swordmakers, they did have a story or three about Gt Gt Grandfather George Prosser who had come from Wales, and who had sons who ventured far and near, Bristol, Birmingham, London - possibly even further.
Writing these stories down, in the belief that one day my children just might be interested, I gave a thought to my own grandparents. My father who had
fought at Dunkirk, my maternal grandfather had been in The Boer War. So I added that too.
Soon, my scraps of paper became whole exercise books. They in turn graduated to A4 notepads - and ultimately the computer.
And now to my very own website.
The trouble with genealogy is that it's out of date even before you finish writing - that is the worst and the best of such a hobby.
However, I would warn you that genealogy is not a hobby to be entered into lightly. It has this habit of grabbing you and never letting go. But it can be enormous FUN!
..............the trouble is - I am STILL trying to find a link with that wretched swordmaker who started it all!!
